John Blackwood |
Mickey Finn |
John Blackwood and Mickey Finn are sample characters that you can use for the Bounty Hunter Gang Leader and Gambler Gang Leader figures. Simply download the PDF and print it out, cut it out, and fold it in half. The “cards” will fit in any normal sized trading card sleeve. More cards will be added soon, at least one for each figure we release. These printable cards are designed to match the physical cards we will be producing to go with our forthcoming box sets. |
Blank Cards
These Cards are designed for you to easily be able to print them out and use instead of a roster sheet. You can download the blank outlaw or lawman cards, print them out yourself and write in the name, stats and other details yourself. Also, if you have access to Photoshop CS5 or above, you can download the Photoshop template that will let you add in photos of your own models. The Photoshop template also comes with the font files you will need.

Checking things out. =)
Love the new PDF! Everyone must give it a look and start building a gang! I have two gangs under construction but we need a forum to show off our gangs.
I used to have a forum going for playtesting, but I took it down when I launched this new site. The old forum was based oh the phpbb software and it was plagued by spambots. Now that I’m running WordPress, there’s a lot of add ons I can get. So I’ll look into new forum software soon
Well that answers my question about where the playtesting site went!
Yep, it was time to finally make everything official. Plus, the old message board was loaded with spambot accounts anyway, so I just deleted the whole thing. I’m using the WordPress blog software to run the site now, it’s a lot easier to control that stuff and there’s a lot of great add ons too
Well thats great, I’m glad this came to to fruition for you, much sooner than I had thought. I hope my contributions were worthy, and I cant wait to get my copy. (I put it on my Christmas list through Amazon for all my family to see
). My kids have me sculpting multi part teddy bear western figs, and this will be the first rule set they see. Congrats!
P.S. I heard this game mentioned on “The D6 Generation Podcast”. Congrats again!
i get file not found when i try to download the rules
That’s strange, haven’t heard of that happening to anyone else. Maybe try and refresh the page? or log out and back in? or close your browser then come back and try? Let me know if any of that fixes it or not, if not I can email you the direct download link.
Got my softcover rulebook from Lulu.com this morning. Very pleased and looking forward to giving it a go ASAP. There is a printer’s error in the gang roster, and a couple of typos in the text, but otherwise it all looks great!
Thanks for buying
I wish Lulu would tell me who’s buying it, I just get a little email saying someone did. I guess they want to keep things private. Sorry about the typos. I’ll have to hire an editor for the next edition but that’s a long way off (like a couple years), have to focus on models now
I’ll be updating the book though with some typo fixes soon though so it will be fixed for people who order in the future.
My soft cover version arrived. Nice book, thought I too noticed the typos.
When will you have PDF roster sheets for download?
Yeah, I know I can download the rules and just print the roster sheets, but I’m hoping for editable roster sheets where I can type in the info before I print them.
Oh, and if folks have not seen, Game Craft Minis has some really nice laser cut wood buildings at VERY nice prices. I recently got three buildings and their sign set in the mail and am very happy with them.

Jake
Thanks, and sorry about the typos
I hope to have the corrected version submitted to Lulu later this week.
I just added a PDF version of just the roster sheet above. The files were made with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, so I wasn’t sure if too many people out there would want the editable version. I’m not quite sure how to make a PDF that lets you enter your own info, but I can look into it. What I would really like to do is build an online gang builder app, so you can do it all online and it handles all the math for you, etc. I’m just not much of a programmer, and haven’t been able to find anyone willing to help out, since I can’t afford to pay anyone for something like that right now. My limited budget is pretty much all going toward models right now.
I added GameCraft to the Miniatures and Terrain list

I just updated the rules tonight, both the PDF and Print versions on Lulu, with a bunch of typo fixes. Hopefully I got ‘em all now!
Going to have a look through this first
I’m looking at version 1.0.4 and there seems to be a discrepancy with the ranges of the Remington Rolling Block Rifle. The short and long ranges overlap by 2″. Also a minor typo on page 24, second to last sentence says, “…fit quit a few models…” and should read, “…fit quite a few models…”
Thanks for catching that! I just updated the PDF and Print on demand books to version 1.0.5
Fixed the typo and the range, which should have been 0-24″ short range, 24-32″ long range.
Wow fast reply! We played our first game tonight and it was great. We have previously played LOTOW about a dozen times before but I now personally prefer BWG. There were a couple of questions that came up though.
1) Is there any way to go prone? Did we possibly miss that in the rules?
2) What happens when you want to shoot at someone and the modifier makes it a 7 or greater target? Is it an impossible shot or do you need 6′s with having to reroll a success? (The same as Super Strength).
3) What happens if my opponent has two weapons, takes me out with the first attack and then I recover with my gang leader’s special doctor roll all in the same action? Does he then get to attack me again with the second attack?
4) Just as a comment we both felt that the +1 per each model penalty for Crowded Targets is possibly excessive.
5) On page 7, Leader’s Luck is a little ambiguous as to whether it is for rerolls only or can be used to add extra dice to rolls.
6) Any rules for opening doors?
7) In an activation can you only move and then attack or is it possible to attack and then move?
Thanks for this great game!
No going prone, you just have to behind cover as best you can. I did have that option in an earlier version, but it started making some strange situations, like if you’re prone, but someone walks up behind you, you should be visible. I took it out with the idea of giving people less to think about. Mostly for people who me who are notorious for forgetting rules in the middle of the game
6 is the max you need to hit someone. Again, wanted to have less math to worry about and also represent the fact that even a guy with the worst aim can still get lucky sometimes.
Your opponent with 2 attacks makes his attacks 1 after the other, so if he takes you out with 1 attack, he still has to use his next attack before you can go. If there’s no targets, then his turn ends. So basically, you can’t have a doctor heal you after that first attack, the doctor can only heal someone when the doctor activated, and he gives up all attacks to heal even if the doctor had 2 weapons.
I intentionally made big melees excessive, I imagined it as a huge brawl where the poor guy caught in the middle is usually the first one beat down, and as others get taken down the fight starts to even out a little, or one side whoops the other real fast. You want to go out of your way to avoid getting jumped by a group of baddies.
And yes leaders luck is just for rerolls, not extra dice.
No rules for opening doors, assume they’re all able to be opened and you can go through them unless you and your opponent agree that certain ones are locked. Like if your building model has a closed door in the front but an open one in the back, you could say that the front door is locked, and the back door is the only way in. Just use your imagination and come up with something fun that you and your opponents agree on.
And when you activate it’s always move first, then attack or other action. But a gunslinger can choose not to move to get his aiming bonus when he shoots.
Thanks for pointing all that stuff out. It looks like I’m going to have to make an “Errata” page like all the other games have
That makes sense and is mostly how we played it. There are a couple of questions that I think you may have misunderstood though.
3) I was referring to the Gang Leader’s Doctor skill that allows models to patch themselves up if they are within 12″ of him with a Stamina roll at target 6. When exactly does that roll happen? Immediately or at the end of the current activation or during upkeep?
4) I was referring to the Crowded Targets rule in Ranged Combat not Melee. Especially in the case where I have a few of my guys close together just so that my opponent’s modifier will be worse.
Thanks again for the quick replies and the great game. Now that we have had a regular 400 fame game we are going to try out the campaign test rules.
Ah, ok. The Doctor Leader’s healing ability for other members would happen during the out of action model’s upkeep (he normally wouldn’t get an another upkeep at all, but this is an exception), on its next activation.. as long as the doctor leader is still standing when the time comes
I’ll have to clarify that in the rules.
And crowded targets.. it’s meant to go hand in hand with the +1 to hit modifier so, yes you can group up a few guys to make each one harder to hit, but then you run the risk of a missed shot hitting the wrong target. It’s meant to deter people from having a blob of like 8 men that no one can hit. And also to give you the option to try and help a friend who’s stuck in melee combat, but if you’re going to shoot into melee, you still run the risk of hitting your buddy instead.

how does the Wrassler work now that you changed the outnumbered rules?
“Any Gang Leader that is also a Wrassler will count as one
extra model for the purposes of outnumbering in enemy
morale rolls, in addition to counting as 2 models in melee
combat. Outnumbering in combat is defined in detail on
page 18.” (actually now on pg 20)
Oops… All of those page numbers are going to be off now, since I added those 2 pages to the front of the book
I’ll fix it tonight.
As far as the Wrassler’s rules, nothing has changed. He counts as an extra model in Morale just like before. So, to check and see if you’re outnumbered for morale, if there’s 4 enemy models on the board, but one is a wrasser gang leader, then treat it like there’s really 5 models.
And, he counts as 2 models for outnumbering in melee combat. So for example if he’s fighting one non-wrassler enemy 1-on-1, the other guy will be outnumbered. It will be easier for the Wrassler to hit the other guy, and harder for the other guy to hit back. To make it an even fight, it would have to be 1 wrasser vs 2 non-wrasslers. If there were 2 wrasslers fighting each other then the outnumbering wouldn’t really matter.
Hope that clears it up
The changes in the new rules were just to the crowded targets rule for shooting, nothing to do with melee or morale.
